The Isuzu Trooper used by Dick Partridge
in the Dakar Rally was today back in Suffolk and already attracting
interest.
The vehicle is on display at
Mayfields garage, Bramford Road, for the next week.
Dick said: "Because Mayfields
sponsored it we thought we would put it in the show room for a while.
It’s a bit different and anyone who’s interested in motorsport
may like to have a look."
This years Dakar Rally had
the second biggest field in its 22-year history, with Dick from
Akenham and his co-driver Keith Parker from Shotley, among those
to complete the 9,000km course.
It will be remembered this year
for the dramatic airlift of all the competitors and their vehicles
from Niger to Libya, because of fear of attack from the terrorist
group GIA as political unrest brewed in the region.
The Isuzu Trooper stood the
test but Dick may well do the race in the future in a different
vehicle.
"I would like to do it again
in a quicker car and go for a better finish," he added.
