.. Then couldn’t manage to find their own way home!

Suffolk’s desert heroes Dick Partridge and Keith Parker mastered everything one of the world’s most gruelling endurance tests could throw at them – but they couldn’t find their way home!
Dick, from Akenham, and Keith, of Shotley Gate, became the first Brits to finish the Total Dakar Rally for more than a decade in their homespun Isuzu Trooper.  But when they returned to Dakar they found their slim budget had dried up completely and it took an SOS call to Ipswich businessman Ray Walters of Orwell Motor Cycles to get them home.
“We ran out of money and Ray proved to be our fairy godmother by arranging our plane tickets home,” said Dick.
Ray even picked them up at Stansted Airport to transport them back to Ipswich on the final leg of a journey which had more incidents than a Sunday motorist has in a lifetime.  “We have to thank Ray, and our other sponsors, Goddards and Healeys Printers, as we could not have done it without their help” added Dick.
