The only firm news at the moment is that unfortunately Dave Hammond (no 126) has retired from the race. As yet I do not know why, but his times between passage controls seemed to indicate that he had problems. As soon as I find out more I'll update here.

Today (Saturday) is the second half of the marathon stage, finishing in Dakar, and it is confirmed that Alfie Cox (no 5) and Saeed Al Hajri/Mathew Stevenson are still going strong. Once crews arrive at Dakar there is just a short special stage of 31km around the famed pink lake before the finish podium at Hotel Meridien.

Update at 13-45 GMT. The position regarding Dave Hammond is not very clear. His name no longer appears on the list of withdrawals, but so far no passage control times are available either! There is just a chance that he is still going. Once again I'll update as soon as I know more.
